Introduction to the Ka-Band SSPA
Interview with ERZIA on the KA-Band SSPA development
The Ka-band solid state amplifier (SSPA) is a core component of the Hi-SIDE RF downlink transmitter. ERZIA has designed a three stage 2W SSPA composed of GaAs and GaN semiconductors. This novel amplifier can operate from 25.5 to 28 GHz delivering a P1dB of 33 dBm (2W) and Psat above 35 dBm

Hi-SIDE Ka-Band Solid State Amplifier
Application:
Requirements for Ka-band payloads are wide ranging due to a variety of potential satellite applications and their associated needs. Even though the satellite market has been growing, it is still considered a niche market with few satellite equipment manufacturers, including solid-state power amplifier manufacturers, having experience of manufacturing in this particular Ka-band of 25 to 27 GHz.
