Dr Philipp Wertz of TESAT presented results from the Hi-SIDE project at the 8th ESA International Workshop on Tracking, Telemetry and Command Systems for Space in Darmstadt, Germany.
His presentation, titled "A Novel Architecture for a High-Speed-Integrated Satellite Data Chain Including an Onboard Routing Network, Data Processing & Storage and Direct-to-Earth Downlink Capabilities using Optical Communication and a Ka-Band RF Link", introduced Hi-SIDE's key concepts and discussed their implementation and employed technologies.
The conference was organised by the European Space Agency and took place from the 24th to the 27th September 2019 at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt. It provided an international forum where TTC equipment designers, systems developers, added value system suppliers, operators, experts, universities, users and space agency could openly network and discuss ideas. The conference also provided an opportunity to identifying upcoming trends in the requirements, architectures and technologies for the coming years.
